Meet your provider
Hi there!
My name is Alissa, and I’m the founder of Connexa. But mostly, I’m just a therapist who is deeply passionate about helping people build healthier, happier lives. I’ve worked in the mental health field since 2020, and I have a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Eastern Washington University. I’m also a certified trauma-informed yoga instructor.
I’m also someone who has lived experienced in trying to feel better both mentally and physically, and has struggled to find truly integrative care. Which is why I started Connexa.
My philosophy is simple; the brain and the body do not work independently from each other. When we struggle with our health in one area, it commonly affects the other. Which is why I approach mental health from a whole-person perspective.
In our work together, we’ll utilize evidence-based theories and tools to help you achieve your specific mental health goals and release the physical symptoms of trauma and stress you might be carrying.
My Therapeutic Approach
In my approach to therapy, I primarily use Compassion Focused Therapy combined with Feminist Theory through a neurobiological lens. Which is a technical way of saying I help my clients build a more compassionate relationship with themselves and others, while taking into consideration both the neuro-chemical and societal influences that impact us deeply.
I have completed extensive study in Compassion Focused Therapy, and biopsychology, as well as somatic processing techniques to help my clients learn to cope with life’s stressors in a way that truly serves them. My approach aims to help my clients understand how the relationship we have with ourselves can shape and influence the challenges we experience, and how we navigate them.
In our therapeutic work together, we’ll focus on helping you build a more compassionate sense of self so you can conquer your challenges and feel better holistically.
Community Partnerships
Our work isn’t the kind you can do alone. We are a proud member of Lycan Counseling Collective, a local therapy collective that focuses on growing and developing the next generation of therapists who support and affirm everyone. They are queer-affirming, eating disorder informed, and focus on empowering their clients to make impactful change.
We are also a part of Lift Lotus Yoga Collective! Lifted Lotus is a donation based yoga collective dedicated to making yoga accessible to everyone. Their work in our community is founded on the yogic mantra “May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.”
We are excited to offer therapeutically informed yoga classes on a substitute basis at this time.
